Rajanukunte police in Bengaluru Rural district apprehended two Nigerian citizens on July 6 and confiscated narcotics valued at ₹4.5 crore. Authorities had been monitoring illegal drug networks targeting college youth, IT professionals, and the general public.
The crackdown started when officers spotted two foreign men behaving suspiciously on a scooter while carrying a bag. A background check showed they had arrived in India via Delhi last December under the pretext of medical treatment and had overstayed their visas.
Around 5:15 p.m. on July 6, police raided a rented residence in Addiganahalli village, Yelahanka, based on precise intelligence. Inside, officers found 2.82 kilograms of MDMA, roughly 400 grams of high-grade hydro ganja, seven mobile phones, two digital weighing scales, and ₹2,06,870 in cash. The crystal drugs were hidden in cardboard boxes for women’s readymade clothes to dodge detection.
Superintendent of Police C.K. Baba described the seizure as among the largest narcotics recoveries in the Bengaluru Rural area and hinted at a broader syndicate. He noted that the accused sometimes disguised themselves in uniforms resembling airport security gear to evade suspicion.
The arrested individuals were identified as 35-year-old Alasonye Peter Obioma and 28-year-old Sunday Windom, who also went by John Victor Ambomo.
A case has been booked under Sections 8(C), 22(C), and 20(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, along with Section 14 of the Foreigners Act. All contraband and devices have been seized for further inquiry
