Mumbai — Former Army officer and wellness coach Khushboo Patani, sister of Bollywood actress Disha Patani, has gone viral for calling out spiritual leader Aniruddhacharya Maharaj over his sexist remarks about women in live-in relationships.
The controversy erupted after a video surfaced in which Aniruddhacharya said, “Ladke laate hain 25 saal ki ladkiyon ko, jo 4-5 jagah mooh maar ke aati hain” — a statement slammed across social media for its misogynistic tone and vulgarity.
Reacting sharply, Khushboo released a video stating, “If he had said this in front of me, I would’ve shown him what ‘mooh maarna’ actually means. Such people are anti-national. The so-called men who follow him blindly are no better.”
She further questioned the gender bias, asking why men in live-in relationships were not equally criticised. “Do girls live in live-in setups alone?” she said. “And what’s wrong with being in one if it’s consensual?”
This isn’t Khushboo’s first moment in the spotlight. Earlier, she was applauded for rescuing a kidnapped infant in Bareilly. A former Major in the Indian Army, Khushboo now works as a certified wellness and mental health coach, with a strong digital presence on Instagram and YouTube.
Known for her direct, no-nonsense attitude, Khushboo often speaks out on gender equality, health awareness, and social justice.
Her stand has reignited debate around freedom of speech for religious leaders and the need for accountability in spiritual discourse.
