Lucknow – With Krishna Janmashtami celebrations set to draw lakhs of devotees to Mathura and Vrindavan on Saturday, authorities have rolled out massive security measures to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the festivities.
Over 3,000 security personnel will be deployed across the towns, supported by 15 watchtowers strategically placed to monitor the swelling crowds. Ninety-four road barriers have been set up on routes leading to major temples, while drones will be used for aerial surveillance.
The city has been divided into 17 security sectors, each under the watch of a magistrate. More than 300 CCTV cameras are being installed in and around key religious sites, with extra focus on Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, Dwarikadheesh Temple, and Banke Bihari Temple. Plainclothes officers will also be stationed in high-density areas to keep an eye on suspicious activity.
Senior police and civil officials conducted a final review of arrangements on Friday. The three-day festival is expected to attract pilgrims from across India and abroad. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also likely to visit Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi during the celebrations.
To accommodate the influx, railways have extended several trains to Mathura railway station. Security checks are being carried out on all incoming vehicles, and a verification drive has been launched near the temple premises.
All major temples have been adorned with vibrant lights and floral decorations, while Vrindavan’s temples and the Yamuna ghats are also being illuminated for the occasion.
