Jammu: Three Army personnel were injured in a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on November 1. The soldiers were patrolling the Phagwari Gali area in the Mendhar sector when the landmine was activated. Preliminary information suggests that the injured soldiers were swiftly evacuated to a nearby medical facility. Two of them were later referred to a military hospital in Rajouri for specialized treatment.
Officials explained that such incidents occasionally occur due to the presence of landmines in the forward areas, which are part of the anti-infiltration obstacle system. These mines can sometimes get washed away by rain, leading to accidental detonations and resulting in injuries to military personnel on patrol duty.
