A suspected operative of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has been arrested near the Delhi border for allegedly planning terror activities targeting India, officials confirmed.
Arrest after sustained surveillance
The accused, Shabbir Ahmad Lone, also known by aliases Raja and Kashmiri, is a resident of Kangan in Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
He was apprehended by the Delhi Police Special Cell in coordination with central intelligence agencies after being under surveillance for his suspected involvement in cross-border terror operations.
Alleged role in terror planning
Officials said Lone was allegedly operating from Bangladesh and was involved in coordinating and planning attacks aimed at targets within India.
Authorities believe he played a key role in running an India-focused module linked to LeT, a banned terrorist organisation.
