Mumbai: Bollywood actor Govinda joined Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena on Thursday. Govinda, known for portraying versatile roles in his film career, is making a potential political comeback. Sources suggest he may contest from the Mumbai North West seat.
The Bollywood star had previously defeated a BJP veteran from the Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat while contesting on a Congress ticket in 2004. Later, he resigned from the party and took a break from politics.
In another political move, former Haryana minister Savitri Jindal has quit the Congress, following her son and industrialist Naveen Jindal’s departure from the party to join the BJP. Savitri Jindal, 84 years old, announced her decision to leave the Congress via a social media post late Wednesday night.
