Power Disruptions Addressed
Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP acknowledged that power cuts occurred in rural pockets of the constituency due to technical issues in the transmission line. Although temporary measures were promptly taken to restore power, disruptions were noticed in rural areas of Puttur, Kumbra, Kadaba, and Karaya for approximately 30 minutes. Power was temporarily shut down for repairs to ensure that the issue was rectified and to prevent overload in the evening.
Assistance for Voters
The provision of wheelchairs at polling stations across the district proved beneficial for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and individuals with mobility issues due to injuries or diseases. Polling staff, including police personnel, were observed assisting voters by providing wheelchairs to those in need. Family members of Boniface D’Souza, a voter at a booth in Katipalla sixth block, expressed gratitude for the initiative, mentioning how the wheelchair facilitated D’Souza, who had recently suffered a fall, to cast his vote.
Determination of Voters
At a polling booth in Ombathukere, a voter with a physical deformity declined to use the wheelchair provided despite being unable to walk. Instead, he crawled to the polling station to exercise his franchise, demonstrating remarkable determination.
Facilities and Support
Police officials at several polling stations confirmed that all necessary arrangements were in place, and food prepared by Akshara Dasoha staff was served punctually. Health staff were present at most polling stations to address health-related issues, including heat stroke. Immediate first aid was administered to a woman who collapsed while waiting in a queue at a booth in Mangaluru South assembly constituency. Additionally, residents of Pavoor Uliya, an island, were assisted in reaching the polling booth in Pavoor with the aid of a boat.
