Ayodhya: Around 95 children, believed to be transported illegally from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh, were rescued by the Uttar Pradesh Child Commission on Friday. Sarvesh Awasthi, Chairperson of the Ayodhya Child Welfare Committee, stated that the children, aged between 4 and 12, were rescued by members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) upon receiving information from UP Child Commission member Suchitra Chaturvedi.
Awasthi explained that the rescue operation commenced after Chaturvedi alerted them about minors being transported from Bihar to Saharanpur illegally, passing through Gorakhpur and Ayodhya. The rescued children were provided with food and medical assistance.
He further revealed that the individuals accompanying the children did not possess consent letters from parents, and most of the children were unaware of their destination. Efforts are underway to contact the parents, and the children will be handed over upon their arrival. The total number of rescued children amounted to 95.
Previously, a separate group of children from Bihar, destined for madrasas in various states, was rescued by the Uttar Pradesh State Child Commission in Gorakhpur. Priyank Kanoongo, Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection Of Child Rights, acknowledged the rescue of these children in a post on social media.
