In Pune district, a 33-year-old man is accused of fatally attacking a female technician of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL) amidst a dispute over an electricity bill. Abhijit Pote purportedly assaulted 26-year-old Rinku Thite inside the MSEDCL office at Morgaon in Baramati tehsil on Wednesday morning, as reported by a Supa police station official.
Pote had previously raised concerns about receiving a ₹570 inflated bill, but it seems no action was taken. Allegedly, he visited the MSEDCL office on Wednesday and assaulted Ms. Thite, who had recently returned from a ten-day leave, with a sharp weapon. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Ms. Thite succumbed to her injuries during treatment, according to the police official.
“We have arrested Pote under relevant sections of the IPC, including 302 (murder), and further probe is ongoing,” the official stated.
