Mumbai: The discovery of a man with head injuries, initially presumed to be an accident, unfolded into a sinister murder plot. The missing backpack at the crime scene became a crucial clue, eventually leading the police to arrest a delivery man for the murder of his friend, who tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The victim, Yogesh Kamble, 36, was a daily wage laborer residing in Damunagar with his mother, wife, and child. His frequent visitor, Ravindra Giri, 36, worked as a delivery man and lived in Kranti Nagar, Kandivali, with his wife and children.

Initially, the police thought Kamble’s injuries were accidental. However, a visit to Kamble’s residence to inform his family about the incident took a dark turn when his mother mentioned that he had left the house with a backpack, which was missing from the crime scene. This raised suspicions, and subsequent investigations revealed a disturbing murder plot.

CCTV footage showed Kamble and Giri heading towards a quarry, where Kamble was found injured. Giri, during police interrogation, confessed to the crime. The motive behind the murder was reportedly Giri’s growing closeness to Kamble’s wife, fueled by Kamble’s violent behavior towards her. Giri decided to intervene and lured Kamble to the quarry with alcohol. Taking advantage of Kamble’s inebriated state, Giri allegedly struck him on the head with a stone and fled the scene with Kamble’s backpack.

Senior Police Inspector Pravin Rane of Samta Nagar police station commended the investigative team for solving the case within 24 hours, bringing to light the disturbing details of the murder plot. The arrest of Giri sheds light on the tragic consequences of personal disputes and the lengths to which individuals may go when consumed by jealousy and revenge.
