The wife of Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, Sunetra Pawar, and NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule, the MP for Baramati, greeted and hugged each other on Friday at a temple in the Baramati tehsil. Both women are potential opponents in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Rumors are rampant that the NCP, led by Ajit Pawar, may field Sunetra Pawar against Sule, the daughter of party founder Sharad Pawar and cousin of Ajit Pawar, in the Baramati Lok Sabha seat.
The two women came face to face at Kamleshwar temple in Jalochi village.
“After offering prayers at the temple, I happened to meet Supriya `tai’ (elder sister in Marathi). We both exchanged greetings on the occasion of Maha Shivratri and Women’s Day,” Sunetra Pawar said in a statement.
