A minor girl from Kaimur district was rescued from Rajasthan after police arrested a man accused of purchasing her for ₹2 lakh and allegedly forcing her into marriage.
The arrested accused has been identified as Subhash Bhamu, a resident of Khariyabad village under Shalasaar police station in Churu district, Rajasthan.
Girl allegedly taken away on job promise
According to police, the girl was allegedly lured to Rajasthan by Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Sikar district, with a promise of employment.
Investigators alleged that Mahesh Kumar subsequently sold the minor to Subhash Bhamu for ₹2 lakh. Police said the girl was then allegedly forced into marriage.
The matter came to light after the victim’s family, residents of a village under Chainpur police station in Kaimur, approached Superintendent of Police Harimohan Shukla with a complaint last week.
They alleged that Mahesh Kumar had taken the girl to Rajasthan on December 27, 2025, claiming that he would help her find employment.
Special team travels to Rajasthan
Taking immediate cognisance of the complaint, the SP directed officers to trace the girl and take action against those allegedly involved.
A special police team comprising Chainpur SHO Vijay Prasad, Sub-Inspector Chandan Kumar and women police personnel was formed and sent to Rajasthan.
The team traced the minor to the Khariyabad area of Churu district and rescued her safely. Police also arrested Subhash Bhamu, son of Ramlal, in connection with the case.
Probe continues to trace other accused
SDPO Manoranjan Bharti shared details of the operation during a press conference on Tuesday.
Police said further investigation is underway and efforts are being made to apprehend other individuals allegedly involved in the trafficking and forced marriage of the minor.
The case has also highlighted the risks faced by vulnerable minors who may be targeted with false promises of employment and subsequently subjected to exploitation.
