A grieving mother has demanded strict action after her 23-year-old son was killed in a road accident allegedly caused by a minor performing a stunt for a social media reel in Dwarka South.

The incident occurred on February 3 near Lal Bahadur Shastri College. According to police, the underage driver, reportedly without a valid licence, was driving a Scorpio SUV and allegedly attempted a stunt while overspeeding on the wrong side of the road.

Fatal impact during stunt attempt

The victim, identified as Sahil Dhaneshwara, was on his way to work when the SUV collided with his motorcycle. The impact was severe, and Sahil died on the spot. A taxi driver was also seriously injured after the SUV rammed into a parked car and another vehicle.

Sahil’s mother, Ina Makan, alleged that the accused was filming a reel at the time and had a history of overspeeding challans. She described the act as criminal negligence rather than an accident.

Case registered, minor granted bail

A case has been registered at the Dwarka South Police Station under Sections 281, 106(1), and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police have seized three damaged vehicles and are examining CCTV footage from the area.

The accused minor was initially sent to an observation home but was later granted interim bail by the Juvenile Justice Board on February 10, considering his Class 10 board examinations.

The victim’s family has called for strict punishment and has demanded that action also be taken against the father for allegedly allowing his minor son to drive.

The case has reignited debate over reckless driving, reel culture and parental responsibility, with many urging stronger enforcement to ensure public safety on city roads.
