Mumbai: A 32-year-old Chartered Accountant (CA) in Mumbai, Raj Leela More, died by suicide on July 5 after reportedly enduring months of severe mental harassment and extortion amounting to approximately Rs 2.5 crore. More consumed poison at his Santacruz residence, leaving behind a three-page suicide note that names two individuals responsible for his death.

The Vakola police have filed a case of abetment of suicide and extortion against the two suspects, identified as Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi. As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing.

The Extortion Scheme

According to reports from NDTV and TOI, More befriended Parwani and Qureshi on Instagram in 2024. The duo allegedly blackmailed him, threatening to make intimate videos of him public unless he paid them large sums of money. His mother, who found the suicide note, stated in her complaint that the alleged blackmailers had pressured her son into draining his savings and even misappropriating funds from his company account. They also reportedly forced him to hand over a luxury vehicle.

More’s mother rushed him to a nearby hospital after he called her, vomiting, having consumed poison. She later revealed that Parwani and Qureshi had even visited their home on June 7, after More had filed a complaint against them for blackmailing.

A Glimpse into the Suicide Note

The three-page suicide note offers a poignant insight into More’s final moments and his alleged ordeal.

In a heartbreaking message addressed to his mother, More apologized for his actions: “Sorry Mother, I could not be your good son, you had expectations from me, but I’m leaving you alone. I’m going for my deeds. May God never give you a son like me in your next life. I have been very bad…” He urged his family to take care of themselves and mentioned a policy in various accounts, requesting the money be given to his mother.

Another section of the note was addressed to his colleague, Deepa Lakhani, where he took full responsibility for any financial wrongdoing and asserted that others in the company were unaware of his actions. “Deepa Lakhani, today I have no words to apologise because I broke your trust. But believe me, this was the last time,” he wrote, adding, “Whatever fraud I did, I did it myself; no one came to know anything. I did not manipulate the statement (account). Shwetha and Jaiprakash had absolutely no idea about what was happening. Please do not take any action against them.”

The third page directly named Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi as responsible for his death. “I, Raj More, am committing suicide today. Rahul Parwani is responsible for my suicide. He manipulated me and blackmailed me for months. He forced me to break my savings and stole money from my company account. Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi are responsible for my death,” the note stated.

Police are actively investigating the allegations of extortion and abetment to suicide as they piece together the full circumstances surrounding Raj Leela More’s tragic death.
