New Dehli: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has on Friday said that no new diesel vehicles will be registered in Delhi and this restricts both the Centre as well as the state governments from purchasing diesel vehicles for their departments.
The NGT, which has been constantly expressing serious concerns on growing pollution menace in the national capital has cracked the whip in a bid to tackle the problem after quality of air in Delhi largely fell in the ‘very poor’ category as per the National Air Quality Index.
It may be noted that in its biggest of the proposed measures, the Delhi Government led by Arvind Kejriwal has recently said that vehicles with odd and even registration numbers will be allowed on alternate days from January 01, 2016.
