Two men were arrested in Noida after a video showing them harassing a woman motorist on a public road went viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage and demands for strict action.

Incident caught on camera

The video, recorded by a fellow commuter, shows a man driving a red MG Hector blowing flying kisses and making obscene gestures at a woman travelling in another car. The accused vehicle is seen repeatedly following the woman’s car, attempting to draw her attention despite visible discomfort.

In the clip, the person filming can be heard calling out the behaviour, saying the accused appeared intoxicated and was behaving indecently while families, including women, were present on the road. The vehicle’s registration number was clearly captured in the video.

Police identify and arrest accused

Following the video’s circulation, Noida Police traced the vehicle and arrested the two men. The accused were identified as Amit Kumar from Azamgarh district and Abhishek from Mainpuri district, both residents of Noida at the time of the incident. The car involved was also seized.

Police said the duo had allegedly behaved inappropriately with other women motorists as well, making lewd gestures and trailing their vehicles, leaving several women shaken and frightened.

Public outrage and calls for action

The video sparked strong reactions online, with users condemning the men’s conduct as blatant harassment and street-level intimidation. Many questioned whether driving expensive vehicles gives some individuals a misplaced sense of immunity from the law.

Several users tagged the Uttar Pradesh Police, Noida Police and traffic authorities on X, urging swift and exemplary action. Others warned about the growing trend of reckless behaviour for attention and the urgent need to ensure women’s safety on public roads.

Police said further investigation is underway and appropriate legal action will follow.
