Rescue efforts involve multiple agencies including NDRF, SDRF, Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and local authorities, as per the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). Approximately 6,44,128 individuals are grappling with the inundation in districts like Kamrup, Golaghat, Majuli, and others, the ASDMA bulletin confirmed.

In addition to human impacts, wildlife in Kaziranga National Park has been forced to migrate to higher ground due to rising water levels. The situation is expected to exacerbate with heavy rainfall predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) over the next few days.

Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, attributed the current floods to continuous heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh. He also noted assurances of support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in managing the crisis.
