New Delhi: Following her hospital admission on Friday, Congresswoman Priyanka Gandhi Vadra declared she would not be taking part in the party’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
Asserting that she would join the Nyay Yatra as soon as she recovered, she wished her brother Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders well on their journey. Late on Friday night, the Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi is expected to arrive in Uttar Pradesh.
After the Yatra crossed into Uttar Pradesh from Bihar, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was expected to meet her brother there, according to sources.
“I was eagerly waiting for the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra to reach Uttar Pradesh. But due to an illness, I had to be admitted to the hospital today itself. I will join the Yatra as soon as I feel better.
“Till then, I give my best wishes to all the Yatris — my dear brother and my colleagues from Uttar Pradesh, who are diligently preparing for the journey — reaching Chandauli-Banaras,” Vadra said in a post in Hindi on X.
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is being led by former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, who is voyaging from Manipur to Mumbai. Bihar is currently being traversed by the Yatra. On Thursday, Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge spoke at a large rally in Aurangabad, Bihar.
The Yatra will take place in Uttar Pradesh on Friday night, the crucial Hindi heartland state that sends the most MPs to the Lok Sabha. From February 16 to February 21 and then again from February 24 to 25, it will pass through the state. The Congress has declared that February 22 and 23 will be Yatra’s rest days.
The 6,700-kilometer East-West Manipur-Mumbai Yatra passes through 15 states with the goal of promoting “nyay” (justice) and encountering common people along the way.
