In a heartbreaking incident, 35-year-old cricketer Imran Patel suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while playing at Garware Stadium, Pune, on Thursday. Imran, an opening batsman, complained of chest and arm pain while batting and informed the umpires before leaving the field. Tragically, he collapsed on his way back to the pavilion.

The incident, which was live-streamed, saw teammates rushing to help before Imran was transported to the hospital. Despite swift medical attention, doctors declared him dead on arrival. Known for his fitness and dedication to cricket, Imran’s sudden demise has left the community in shock.

Fellow cricketer Naseer Khan expressed disbelief, stating, “He had no medical issues and was always active. We are devastated.” Imran was a respected figure who owned a cricket team, a real estate business, and a juice shop. He leaves behind his wife and three daughters, the youngest only four months old.

This incident echoes a similar tragedy earlier this year in Pune, where cricketer Habib Shaikh also succumbed to cardiac arrest during a match.
