The sensational murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya is being adapted into a feature film, tentatively titled Honeymoon in Shillong. The case, which shocked the nation with its chilling twists of betrayal, now finds its way to the big screen with the victim’s family granting permission for the story to be told.

Raja’s elder brother Sachin Raghuvanshi confirmed the family’s support for the project, stating, “We gave our consent because people deserve to know who was truly right and who was wrong.” The film aims to shed light on the events leading up to Raja’s death and highlight the betrayal that ended his life.

Director SP Nimbawat, who is helming the project, said the film’s central message is to raise awareness against such acts of betrayal. The script is complete, and production is set to begin soon. Around 80% of the movie will be shot in Indore, Raja’s hometown, while the remaining 20% will be filmed in Meghalaya, where the crime occurred.

Raja’s other brother, Vipin, emphasized that the family also wants the film to clarify that Meghalaya should not be judged based on this isolated incident. “We want to present the correct image of the state,” he said.

Raja was reported missing in May while honeymooning with his wife Sonam. His body was later discovered in a gorge near a waterfall in Sohra (Cherrapunji). Police later arrested eight individuals, including Sonam and her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, for their roles in the murder
