A shocking case of murder has surfaced in Khairthal-Tijara district of Rajasthan, where the body of a brick kiln worker from Uttar Pradesh was discovered stuffed inside a drum and covered with salt to accelerate decomposition.

The deceased, identified as Hansram alias Suraj from Shahjahanpur, had been residing in a rented rooftop room in Adarsh Colony for the past one-and-a-half months. On Sunday, locals alerted the police after noticing a foul odour from the house. During inspection, officers found his body concealed in the drum on the terrace.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra Singh Nirwan confirmed that the victim’s throat had been slit with a sharp weapon, leading to fatal blood loss. The forensic team reported that salt was deliberately poured over the corpse to hasten its decomposition.

What has raised further suspicion is that Hansram’s wife Sunita, their three children, and the landlord’s son Jitendra have all gone missing since the incident. Neighbours informed police that Hansram, known to be addicted to alcohol, was last seen on Saturday evening drinking with Jitendra. After that, neither man nor their families were spotted in the area.

Police have filed a case and sent the body for postmortem examination. A search operation is underway to track down the missing persons, who are believed to hold crucial information about the crime. Investigators are exploring angles of personal rivalry, domestic issues, and disputes involving the landlord’s family.
