New Delhi: After three shootings occurred over a period of four days in the Jamia Nagar area, Riot Control Vehicle of the CRPF’s Rapid Action Force was deployed near the Shaheen Bagh area, the site of an indefinite sit-in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act on Monday, February 3.
According to the police, the deployment is part of the routine security measure considering that on February 2, just last night at around 11.30 PM, two scooty-borne men rode by JMIU, one of whom (the pillion) fired a shot in the air near gate number 5 of the university. The two men then sped off towards the Holy Family Hospital and disappeared.
Two days earlier, a fired shots at Shaheen Bagh, causing panic. He was immediately detained by the police.
Security has been beefed up in the area after the shootings.
