The sacred relic of Blessed Mother Eliswa will be installed at Elamkulam Fatima Matha Church at 7.30 am on Saturday, marking a significant spiritual moment for the faithful in Kerala.
Solemn liturgy and procession
The liturgical services will be presided over by Dr Antony Valunkal, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Verapoly.
The relic will be brought to the church from St Joseph Bhavan, the headquarters of the CTC Carmelite Religious Congregation, with a grand escort of 100 two-wheelers.
The procession will be led by Mother Shaheela, Superior General of the CTC, along with other religious sisters.
Public veneration arranged
Parish vicar Fr Martin Thaiparampil said arrangements have been made for the faithful to venerate the relic until 7.30 pm on the same day.
A towering spiritual legacy
Mother Eliswa holds a unique place in Indian Church history. She is recognised as Kerala’s first nun, the first founder of a religious congregation of nuns in the state, and India’s first Carmelite nun.
She was declared Blessed on November 7, 2025, by Cardinal Sebastian Francis, representing Pope Leo XIV.
The installation of her relic is expected to draw large numbers of devotees, reflecting the deep reverence Mother Eliswa continues to inspire across generations.
