Satna: An 11-year-old boy was found dead inside a blue drum at his home in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district, with police suspecting a local laundry worker of involvement in the alleged murder.
The incident took place in Bank Colony under the Kolgawan police station limits, where officers discovered the body after breaking open the locked house.
Body found after mother raises alarm
According to police, the boy was alone at home when the incident occurred. His mother, Asha Rajak, returned around 12:30 pm to find the house locked from the outside and her son missing.
After searching for him in the neighbourhood without success, she alerted residents and the police. Officials then forced entry into the house and noticed bloodstains on a pillow before locating the boy’s body inside a blue drum at around 3 pm.
Suspect absconding
Police have identified 45-year-old Mathura Rajak, a laundry shop operator in the area, as the prime suspect. He is currently absconding, with his shop found closed and his mobile phone switched off.
Authorities suspect the child may have been killed using a sharp-edged weapon. A search operation has been launched to trace and apprehend the accused.
Dispute cited as possible motive
Family members told investigators that the suspect had an ongoing dispute with the boy’s father, Ramesh Rajak, who works in Maharashtra. They alleged that the accused had issued threats following a confrontation about ten days ago.
The family also claimed that the suspect had been harassing the boy’s mother during her husband’s absence, which may have escalated tensions.
Case registered under BNS
Police have registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are continuing their investigation.
Officials said further details will emerge once the accused is apprehended and forensic reports are examined.
Conclusion
The incident has shocked the local community, raising concerns about safety and unresolved personal disputes turning violent. Police have intensified efforts to locate the suspect and ensure swift action in the case.
