Several schools along the Katraj–Uruli Devachi corridor in Pune will remain closed on Friday due to traffic restrictions imposed for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the city.

The visit will begin in the morning with Shah unveiling a statue of Shreemant Thorle Bajirao Peshwa at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla. His itinerary includes laying the foundation stone for the Jayraj Sports and Convention Centre at Kondhwa Budruk, visiting Balasaheb Deora Hospital at Khadi Machine Chowk, and inaugurating the Poona Hospital & Research Centre Health City on Wadachiwadi Road.

Traffic will be regulated between 11:30 am and 3:30 pm in areas like Katraj, Kondhwa, Undri, and Uruli Devachi, prompting several schools in the affected zones to declare a one-day closure to avoid inconvenience for students.

The Bishop’s Co-Ed School in Undri issued a notice confirming a holiday for students from nursery to Class 12, citing traffic congestion. Online classes have been arranged for Classes 1 and 2.

St. Mathews Academy in Uruli Devachi and RIMS International School in Kondhwa also confirmed plans to close, with RIMS awaiting a final decision from school management.

“As a precaution due to expected roadblocks and delays during school dispersal hours, we’ve opted for closure,” said a school official.
