A tragic suicide case involving Nitesh Singh, wife of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mukesh Pratap Singh, has taken a disturbing turn after CCTV footage surfaced from their Lucknow residence at the Police Lines Transit Hostel. Nitesh was found hanging earlier this week, prompting allegations from her family of harassment and infidelity against the officer.
However, new evidence has raised questions about her mental state. The video footage, captured inside the house, reportedly shows Nitesh attempting to suffocate her autistic son, Aniket, a day before her death. The clip reveals her pressing a pillow over his face and later trying to choke him with her hands. Aniket struggled and managed to escape. Heartbreakingly, the couple’s younger son is seen playing nearby, unaware of the incident unfolding.
Upon seeing the footage, Mukesh confronted his wife, leading to a heated argument. The next evening, Nitesh was found dead in their home. While her family continues to allege mistreatment and emotional abuse, the Lucknow police are closely analyzing the footage to determine whether mental health or external pressures played a role in her suicide.
According to DCP Central Ashish Kumar Srivastava, ASP Mukesh was scheduled for duty in Varanasi and had asked Nitesh’s father to stay with her. When he arrived, he found her dead. After formalities, her body was taken to Firozabad, where her brother Pramod Kumar, former district panchayat president, oversaw the last rites.
Investigators are now piecing together the timeline and evaluating her mental condition leading up to her death.
