Chandigarh: Former cricketer and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur has tendered her resignation to the Congress party, here on Tuesday, October 22.
Kaur has alleged that the party had denied her a ticket to contest in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from the Chandigarh Lok Sabha Constituency.
She has blamed Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and state party general secretary in-charge Asha Kumari for her decision.
Meanwhile, Sidhu in a press conference has stood by his wife’s statement and said that she would never lie.
However, CM Amarinder Singh has rejected the allegations and said that she was offered a ticket to contest from Amritsar or Bathinda LS seat. He claimed that she had rejected the offer and that the allegations made by her of not giving her ticket from Chandigarh seat had nothing to do with him as the ultimate decision came from the party’s high command.
It can be recalled that Kaur had quit the BJP in 2016 and joined Congress.
