Patna: Six individuals went missing after a boat capsized in the Ganga river near the Umanath Ganga Ghat in Barh sub-division of Patna district, according to officials.
The accident occurred at approximately 9:15 am when the boat, carrying 17 people—mostly from a single family—overturned and sank in the middle of the river. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Barh) Shubham Kumar reported that while 11 individuals were rescued, with some managing to swim to safety.
Upon receiving the distress call, district administration officials and police personnel promptly arrived at the scene. They initiated a rescue operation with assistance from local residents to locate the missing passengers.
The SDM confirmed that the search for the six missing persons is ongoing. “We have also deployed personnel from the state disaster relief force and are working to identify the missing individuals,” Kumar stated.
