SpiceJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Bird-Hit

Spicejet

New Delhi: A SpiceJet flight bound for Leh (SG123) encountered a bird strike shortly after takeoff from Delhi on Sunday. The Boeing 737 aircraft safely returned to Delhi after the incident, which involved engine damage.

“The flight crew detected a bird strike on engine number two and opted to return to Delhi for inspection,” said a SpiceJet spokesperson. “The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers disembarked normally.”

This incident caused a domino effect, leading to the cancellation of the return flight from Leh to Delhi, originally scheduled for midday. Understandably, this cancellation frustrated passengers in Leh, who reportedly argued with ground staff.

This event comes on the heels of several other recent aviation incidents in India. Last week, two separate flights – Air India and Air India Express – were forced to make emergency landings due to technical malfunctions.
