
Swiggy 2024: A Year of Record-Breaking Food Trends and Unique Orders

Swiggy’s 2024 data reveals some fascinating insights into Indian food culture, showing just how much the country loves its food. The year saw impressive records and trends, highlighting unique consumer behaviors across regions. Biryani dominated the food scene with an incredible 83 million orders, averaging two orders per second, making it the most ordered dish. Dosa followed closely with 23 million orders, cementing its status as a beloved breakfast and snack choice. On the dessert front, Rasmalai and Sitaphal ice cream emerged as the fastest-selling treats, with delivery times under 10 minutes. Regional food preferences were also noteworthy. Delhi’s love for Chole Bhature, Shillong’s fondness for noodles, Chandigarh’s Aloo Parantha, and Kolkata’s Kachoris stood out as local favourites. In the snack category, Chicken Rolls led with 2.48 million orders, while late-night cravings were satisfied with 1.84 million chicken burger orders placed between midnight and 2 AM. Some record-breaking orders also caught attention, including the fastest delivery of ice cream in just 3 minutes via Swiggy Bolt. A customer from Delhi placed an enormous order for 250 onion pizzas, and a Bengaluru diner spent an eye-popping Rs 49,900 on pasta alone. Swiggy’s delivery partners traveled a massive 1.96 billion kilometres in 2024, with Mumbai’s Kapil Kumar Pandey completing 10,703 deliveries, making him the top performer. Additionally, Swiggy Dineout facilitated 22 million diners, helping them save a total of Rs 533 crore, with Bengaluru diners saving Rs 101 crore alone. Bengaluru also led the alcohol delivery trend, with 289,000 orders, while romantic dining reservations surged, especially in Bengaluru and Jaipur. Read Also;
