In a significant breakthrough, Hulimavu police arrested a 32-year-old man from Tamil Nadu, solving two house theft cases—one in Bengaluru and another in Mysuru.

The accused, Channagopal, was taken into custody on July 19 near Basavanapura bus stand, following a complaint by Akshaya Nagar residents who reported the theft of gold and silver items from their homes between June 22 and 24.

During questioning, Channagopal confessed to the burglaries and revealed he had an accomplice, whose arrest is still pending. He admitted to distributing a portion of the stolen gold to acquaintances in Tiruchirappalli (TN) and JP Nagar (Bengaluru), selling some to a gold buyer (Benaka Gold Company), and hiding the remaining loot under a tree near a vacant plot beside NICE Road on Bannerghatta Main Road.

Based on this information, police recovered approximately 136 grams of gold ingots and 1.653 kilograms of silver items.

Channagopal was produced before a magistrate and has been remanded to judicial custody since June 30. Authorities have launched a search operation to locate and arrest his absconding accomplice.

This arrest marks a notable success for Bengaluru police in curbing inter-state theft rings and recovering valuable stolen property.
