The Intellectual Property Enforcement Cell of the Tamil Nadu Police cracked down on counterfeit electrical goods in two separate raids, leading to the arrest of four individuals from Rajasthan for selling fake products under reputed brand names.

Following a complaint about counterfeit Polycab electrical wires being sold in Chennai’s Sowcarpet area, the enforcement team raided the location. During the operation, they arrested Ful Singh (26), Bhagwat Singh (22), and Farooq Khan (23) — all hailing from Rajasthan — who had allegedly sourced the fake wires from Delhi. Authorities seized counterfeit Polycab wires worth ₹96,500.

In a second raid, sparked by a tip-off about fake voltage regulators being sold under the Kirloskar brand, the unit searched a premises in Parrys. Deepak (48), also from Rajasthan, was found selling counterfeit regulators sourced from an undisclosed location. Goods worth ₹52,000 were seized from him.

Both cases highlight a growing concern over counterfeit electrical equipment entering the market, posing serious safety risks to consumers. Police say further investigations are underway to trace the supply chain behind the fake products.
