Coimbatore: Former AICC chief Rahul Gandhi, who always meets new people and ventures wherever he wants, breaking security protocols, has once again taken time from his hectic campaigning in Tamil Nadu for the upcoming general election. He visited a sweet shop in Singanallur on Friday night.
The owner of the shop, Babu, was surprised to see Rahul Gandhi visit his shop impromptu. Babu said he and his staff at the shop were pleasantly surprised when Rahul Gandhi, who was probably on his way to Coimbatore, visited the shop. He liked Gulab Jamun and bought a kilo of the sweet. The Gandhi scion also tasted the sweets that were on display, he said.
Babu mentioned that Mr. Gandhi was at his shop for about 30 minutes. Gandhi paid for the sweets he purchased; although they asked him not to pay, he insisted, said the owner of the shop.
Gandhi also purchased the famous Mysore Pak sweet, which he gifted to Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin. The Congress party shared a post on social media, tweeting the video of Gandhi buying the sweet.
