Maggi has long been more than just a quick meal in India — it is comfort food, nostalgia and instant joy rolled into a bowl. Now, a street-side twist from Varanasi has added a smoky, cheesy spin to the beloved noodles, grabbing attention across social media.

A video shared by Instagram page @walkwithshubham showcases the preparation of Tandoori Handi Maggi, a street-style variation that blends familiar Maggi flavours with tandoor-style cooking and dramatic presentation.

How Tandoori Handi Maggi is prepared

The process begins by heating a handi (earthen pot) on the stove. Oil is added, followed by chopped onions, tomatoes and capsicum. After a splash of water, a mix of masalas and sauces is stirred in to build flavour.

The star ingredient — Maggi noodles — is then added along with more water. To finish, cheese slices are mixed in, giving the dish a rich and creamy texture.

Kulhad-in-handi plating steals the show

What truly sets the dish apart is its presentation. The prepared Maggi is poured into a kulhad (earthen cup), which is then placed inside a larger handi before serving. The visual appeal has played a big role in the video’s viral success.

In the comments, Shubham shared the location of the food cart serving the dish: Handi Chai Wala near Sankat Mochan Road, Saket Nagar Colony, Lanka, Varanasi.

Internet reactions are divided

Since being posted, the video has drawn a flood of reactions. Many food lovers praised the creativity and indulgent twist.

“Instant happiness in a handi,” wrote one user.
“This looks yummy,” commented another.
A local foodie added, “Inki Maggi aur chai bahut tasty hai.”

However, not everyone was convinced. Some users joked about the excess cheese and spices, while others made sarcastic remarks comparing it to “Maggi biryani”.

Street food keeps reinventing Maggi

From butter garlic versions to smoky tandoori experiments, Maggi continues to evolve through India’s vibrant street food culture. Love it or question it, the Tandoori Handi Maggi has certainly added a new chapter to Varanasi’s ever-creative food scene.
