Tannaz Irani recently shared her challenging journey through a series of health issues in 2021, which left her reliant on a wheelchair for a prolonged period. Reflecting on this tough phase, Tannaz revealed in an interview on the Inner Habit podcast that her physical struggles deeply impacted her mental health as well. In 2021, Tannaz began experiencing difficulties with walking. Initially attributing it to weight gain, she considered seeing a chiropractor. However, the situation worsened after joining mixed martial arts (MMA) to address her concerns, which aggravated the problem. Tannaz sought treatment for what she believed was a spinal issue, but while her back improved, her leg strength continued to deteriorate, leading to limping and pain. MRIs revealed that her knees, ankles, and back were all compromised due to abnormal movements. During this period, she recalled how she had to rely on a wheelchair while on vacation abroad. “Every evening, I would crawl back to my room, always in severe pain, and constantly dependent on painkillers,” she shared. Eventually, Tannaz underwent hip replacement surgery, but the aftermath brought unexpected emotional challenges. “When I stood up after surgery and realized one leg was longer than the other, I was devastated. I felt like a cruel joke was being played on me, and at that moment, I didn’t even want to live anymore.” Tannaz made her film debut in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and later appeared in several popular films, including Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai and 36 China Town.
