A 14-year-old girl died under suspicious circumstances in Rail Bazar after allegedly consuming mosquito repellent liquid, police said.
The deceased was identified as Aarya Shukla.
Argument over coaching classes
According to family members, the incident occurred after Aarya was asked to attend coaching classes on Saturday evening but reportedly refused.
Her mother is said to have scolded her over the issue, following which the girl went to her room in distress.
When she did not come out for a long time, family members checked the room and found her unconscious on the bed.
Bottle recovered from room
An empty bottle of liquid was reportedly found nearby.
The family rushed her to a private hospital, from where she was referred to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital.
Doctors later declared her dead.
Police begin investigation
After receiving information, police reached the house, conducted an inspection and recovered the bottle from the room.
The body has been sent for postmortem examination.
Officials said they are waiting for the medical report, after which further action will be decided.
