Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy sent a clear message to the Telugu film industry on Thursday, emphasizing that there would be no compromise on maintaining law and order in the wake of the tragic stampede incident at Sandhya Theatre during the promotion of Pushpa 2. The CM underscored that crowd control is a shared responsibility between the police and celebrities, with actors needing to cooperate with law enforcement during public appearances.

The incident, which occurred on December 4, resulted in the death of a woman named Revathi and the serious injury of her young son. The stampede was allegedly triggered by actor Allu Arjun’s unannounced visit to the theatre, which led to a chaotic scene as his fans surged for a glimpse of the star. Telangana Police have accused Arjun’s private security, including bouncers, of exacerbating the situation with reckless behavior, which they believe contributed to the tragedy.

In response, CM Reddy announced a ban on special screenings and benefit shows at cinemas for the time being and issued a warning to private security personnel working with high-profile celebrities. He stressed that maintaining public safety was paramount.

The meeting saw the presence of prominent figures from the Telugu film industry, including Allu Arjun’s father, Allu Arvind, and Dil Raju, Chair of the Telangana Film Development Corporation. Following the incident, Allu Arvind pledged Rs 2 crore in compensation to the family of the deceased woman.

While the police believe the crowd grew due to Arjun’s impromptu appearance, his team has denied any wrongdoing, insisting they had informed the authorities of the actor’s presence at the theatre. Allu Arjun himself expressed regret over the incident, denying responsibility for the actions of others and condemning the misinformation surrounding the event.
