A disturbing video showing a hostel warden assaulting a student in Telangana has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage and renewed concerns over student safety in residential educational facilities.

Warden seen assaulting student on camera

The video clip allegedly shows a warden, identified as Bhavani, verbally abusing and physically assaulting a female student inside a hostel in Telangana. In the footage, the warden is seen hitting the student with her hands and a stick while reprimanding her for being “missing” after an examination.

“You put my job at risk. Do you know what tensions I went through when I found you missing?” the warden can be heard shouting in the video, even as the student pleads for forgiveness. The incident was reportedly recorded by another student present at the hostel.

Incident occurred in November, video goes viral now

According to reports, the assault took place on November 24, but the video surfaced and spread widely only in recent days. The exact circumstances that led to the confrontation are still unclear, and authorities have not officially disclosed the reason behind the warden’s actions.

The visuals have prompted strong reactions online, with many calling the incident a clear case of abuse of authority within student hostels.

No official action announced yet

Following the viral spread of the video, it has been learnt that the district administration may respond to the incident. However, as of now, there has been no official confirmation on whether a police case has been registered against the warden or if departmental action has been initiated.

The lack of immediate clarity from authorities has further fuelled public anger, with many questioning accountability mechanisms within hostel management systems.

Student groups demand justice and reforms

Student organisations and several social groups have strongly condemned the assault, demanding strict action against the warden and justice for the victim. Serious concerns have been raised about the safety and dignity of students, particularly girls, in hostels run or monitored by authorities.

Several groups have also urged the government to pay special attention to the welfare of students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, stressing the need for stronger safeguards, grievance redressal systems, and regular monitoring of hostel staff behaviour.

The incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for robust student protection policies and zero tolerance for violence within educational spaces.
