New Delhi: Following a complaint of theft at the Aam Aadmi Party’s office in Delhi, a thief and three scrap dealers were arrested on Sunday from central Delhi, police said.

Police said the accused thief, Mohammad Kajim, 55, is a homeless person living on the streets near Minto Road while his accomplices Furkan, 40, Kaiyum, 42, and Saffuddin, 38, are scrap dealers. The AAP’s stolen campaign material has been recovered from the four, police said.

Kajim was involved in 10 cases registered under the Arms Act and for robbery and snatchings.

“Kajim was caught on closed-circuit television footage while committing theft at the AAP office in central Delhi. He later sold the items to the scrap dealers,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh Randhawa said.

The AAP leaders had complained to Delhi Police regarding a theft at the office on Saturday.

“Election campaign material was stolen from our party office at 206, Rouse Avenue, on Saturday morning,” AAP leader Vikas Yogi said.

A complaint of theft was submitted to the Indraprastha police station along with the CCTV footage.

In October, a blue Maruti Wagon R car belonging to Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal was stolen from the Delhi Secretariat.
