In a tragic incident from Ahmedabad, two young girls lost their lives after a family allegedly fell ill from eating dosa prepared using market-bought batter.
Family falls ill after eating dosa
According to reports, the family had purchased dosa batter from a local dairy in the Chandkheda area. They prepared and ate dosa in the evening, but their health worsened the following morning.
Family members said all those who consumed the dosa began vomiting and their condition quickly became critical, leading to hospitalisation.
Two children lose lives
During treatment, a three-month-old infant, Raha, and a four-year-old girl, Mishri, died. Their parents, Bhavna Prajapati and Vimal Prajapati, are currently in critical condition and receiving treatment at a private hospital.
Probe into cause of illness
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, while officials from the municipal food department are examining the quality of the dosa batter to determine the exact cause.
Dairy denies allegations
The dairy owner has denied any contamination, stating that the same batter was sold to multiple customers and no other complaints have been reported. He added that CCTV footage and customer feedback are being reviewed.
Food safety concerns highlighted
The incident raises serious concerns about food safety, handling and storage practices. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken if any lapse is found.
