Lucknow, October 11, 2025:
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to distribute over 92,000 minikits to farmers across the state for the upcoming Rabi season. This initiative aims to boost pulse crop production, promote modern agricultural techniques, and enhance overall farm productivity in the state.

Distribution of Minikits

The Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Department will distribute the minikits to farmers cultivating pulses on a priority basis. These minikits include high-yield varieties of pulses designed to improve output and withstand local climatic conditions. The distribution will be conducted in coordination with district agriculture offices to ensure timely delivery and maximum coverage.

The minikits are part of a broader strategy to modernize farming practices, introduce high-quality seeds, and reduce dependency on traditional varieties that often produce lower yields.

Incentive Programs for Farmers

Alongside the minikits, the government is implementing various incentive-based programs to educate farmers about modern agricultural methods. These include:

  • Acre Demonstrations: Farmers will be shown best practices in land preparation, sowing techniques, and crop management to maximize yield.
  • Kisan Pathshalas: Workshops and training sessions conducted at local levels to guide farmers in scientific farming practices, soil testing, and pest management.

These programs aim to empower farmers with knowledge, ensuring that the benefits of high-quality seeds are fully realized.

Financial and Input Support

To further assist farmers, the government has announced a grant of ₹4,000 per acre for cultivation during the Rabi season. This financial support is intended to help farmers meet expenses such as seeds, fertilisers, and irrigation, reducing the financial burden on small and marginal farmers.

Additionally, urea fertilizer will be available at a subsidized rate of ₹266 per bag, making essential inputs affordable and accessible for all farmers. The state government has also ensured adequate supply chains to avoid shortages in rural areas.

Focus on Agricultural Growth and Sustainability

These initiatives are part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s broader strategy to promote sustainable agriculture, increase crop productivity, and support rural livelihoods. By distributing minikits and implementing educational programs, the government hopes to boost pulse production, reduce the import dependence for pulses, and strengthen food security in the state.

Officials have emphasised that this year’s Rabi season is critical for ensuring both farmer income stability and the state’s agricultural growth targets. The initiative is expected to directly benefit thousands of farmers, particularly those in small and marginal farming communities.
