Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has apprehended two Pakistani nationals and their accomplice for illegally entering India through the Nepal border and assuming false Indian identities using forged documents. The arrested individuals are identified as Mohammed Altaf Bhat, Sayyed Gajanfar – both Pakistani residents – and Nasir Ali from Srinagar. ATS officials revealed that Mohammed Altaf Bhat had received training from Hizbul Mujahideen, facilitated by Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.
The ATS further disclosed that the trio, including Bhat, Gajanfar, and Nasir, had been plotting terrorist activities within India. Nilabja Chaudhary, Inspector General of ATS, stated that intelligence had indicated the entry of Pakistani nationals into India via the Nepal border with ISI’s assistance, with intentions to carry out terrorist attacks. Chaudhary emphasized that the suspects had undergone training at Hizbul Mujahideen’s camp with ISI’s support.
Upon receiving intelligence reports, the ATS initiated operations, conducting electronic and physical surveillance in Gorakhpur. The operation culminated in the interception and arrest of the two Pakistani nationals and their associate at Farenda, a village in Sonauli, located on the Indo-Nepal border.
