New Delhi: Stealing ₹ 8.53 lakh in cash, a man from Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, broke into a Prathama UP Gramin Bank branch. An internal CCTV camera at the cashier’s counter captured the incident.
The defendant is seen in the video entering the cashier’s office directly after being seen standing outside while sporting a helmet. Pulling out a sickle, the accused presses it up against the cashier’s neck as she turns to stop him from going into her cubicle.

Wads of cash are then seen to be lifted by the cashier and placed in the accused’s bag. Afterwards, he quietly and nonchalantly leaves the branch.

The heist happened at the Prathama UP Gramin Bank branch on Civil Line, which is located in the city’s VIP area.

After receiving information from the bank manager, senior police officers Vineet Jaiswal and Amarendra Prasad Singh arrived at the scene and began an investigation. The bank staff members are being questioned.

Five teams of police have been organized to go on a manhunt for the robber.

Speaking to the media, a police officer said, “We received information about the robbery around 12:15 pm. An unidentified man in a helmet was inside the bank for nearly 20 minutes. He waited for most of the people to leave and then went in for the loot. He then left the bank and rode away on a bank.”

“We have informed other police stations. They are on the lookout,” he added.
