Hyderabad Police have booked Telugu actor Venkatesh Daggubati, along with his family members, including nephew Rana Daggubati, his father Suresh, and brother Abhiram, for the illegal demolition of a hotel they had leased to another individual.
The case stems from the January 2024 demolition of Deccan Kitchen, a hotel located in Hyderabad’s Film Nagar area, which was leased to Nanda Kumar. Kumar approached the court after the hotel was razed, despite a pending injunction from the City Civil Court and orders from the Telangana High Court to maintain the status quo. Kumar claimed the demolition caused him a loss of ₹20 crore.
The police action followed a local court’s directive to investigate the matter. Notably, Nanda Kumar is an accused in the 2022 alleged poaching of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi) MLAs.
In 2022, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had also demolished part of Deccan Kitchen and adjacent structures built by Kumar, citing unauthorized construction. The Telangana High Court had subsequently ordered GHMC to explain its actions and maintain the status quo.
