A woman was found dead at her husband’s house in Vengara in Malappuram district on Tuesday, prompting a police investigation after her relatives raised suspicions over the circumstances of her death.

The deceased has been identified as Jaleesa (31), wife of Nisar, a resident of Minikap in Cheroor. Police said she was found inside a shed adjacent to the kitchen at the house.

Married for over a decade, mother of three

Jaleesa and Nisar had been married for more than ten years and are parents to three children. The incident has left family members and neighbours shocked.

Sources said a dispute had broken out recently between the woman’s relatives and members of her husband’s family at the residence. It is not yet clear whether this disagreement had any connection to her death.

Relatives allege foul play

Following the incident, Jaleesa’s relatives alleged foul play and demanded a detailed investigation. Acting on the complaint, the Vengara police registered a case and began inquiries to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Police officials said all angles are being examined, including statements from family members and neighbours, as part of the investigation.

Body sent for postmortem

The body was shifted to Manjeri Government Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination. Police said further action would be taken based on the findings of the autopsy report.

Funeral arrangements will be made after the completion of postmortem procedures, officials added.

Police seek patience during probe

Police have urged the public to avoid speculation and assured that a fair and thorough investigation will be carried out. More details are expected once forensic and medical reports are received.
