A 24-year-old man lost his life in a tragic road accident after his speeding car rammed into a tree on Vatva GIDC Road late on the night of February 12, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Akash Goswami, a resident of Vavol in Gandhinagar district. He was employed with a private company in Changodar and was driving a Hyundai Accent at the time of the crash.
Lost control due to overspeeding
According to officials, Goswami was on his way to Barejadi village to pick up his wife, who had recently visited her parental home. Police said he allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to overspeeding, causing the car to veer off the road and crash into a roadside tree.
CCTV footage of the accident has surfaced, revealing the severity of the impact. The collision was so forceful that the vehicle was extensively damaged. Goswami sustained critical injuries and died on the spot before medical assistance could reach him.
Family in shock, probe underway
Family members said the couple had been married for three years. His sudden demise has left relatives and friends devastated. The last rites were performed on February 13 in Veda village as per traditional customs.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the rising number of accidents on Vatva GIDC Road, particularly during night hours. Residents have expressed concern over reckless driving and inadequate enforcement of speed regulations in the area.
Traffic police have initiated an investigation and are examining the CCTV footage to determine whether any other factors contributed to the accident.
Authorities have urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and exercise caution, emphasising that a moment of negligence can result in irreversible loss.
