S Sudarshan, a well-known YouTuber from Madurai who runs the popular channel Tech Super Star, has been booked along with four of his family members after his wife accused them of dowry harassment. The Theni all-women police filed the case on Friday based on a complaint by his spouse, Dr. T Vimaladevi.

Hailing from Valayapathi near Othakadai in Madurai, Sudarshan had tied the knot with Vimaladevi, a medical practitioner from Theni, in March last year. At the time of the marriage, her family had reportedly provided 30 sovereigns of gold jewellery, ₹5 lakh in cash, and home appliances worth ₹2 lakh.

Trouble began when Sudarshan allegedly demanded an additional 20 sovereigns of gold. When his requests were turned down, he reportedly resorted to threats. Later, he is said to have taken control of her jewellery, claiming it would be used to fund a new house.

During her pregnancy, Vimaladevi was sent to her parents’ residence, and her family handed over another ₹1 lakh to Sudarshan’s side. However, after the baby’s birth, the situation allegedly worsened. More gold was demanded, and she reportedly faced verbal abuse and intimidation from her in-laws.

Following her complaint, the police registered a case against Sudarshan, his father Sundararajan, mother Malathi, sister Sakthipriya, and brother-in-law Vigneshwaran. They have been charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act.
