CALGARY/VANCOUVER: An Indian student studying at the University of Calgary, Tanya Tyagi, has died under unknown circumstances, the Consulate General of India in Vancouver confirmed on Thursday.
In a statement posted on X, the Consulate expressed its grief: “We are saddened by the sudden demise of Ms. Tanya Tyagi, an Indian student at the University of Calgary.”
While details regarding the cause and nature of her death remain unclear, officials stated that they are coordinating with local authorities to ascertain more information.
“The Consulate is in touch with the authorities and will provide all required assistance to the bereaved family. Our heartfelt condolences & prayers are with her family and friends,” the post added.
The Indian community and students in Canada have expressed shock and sorrow at the news, as authorities continue to investigate.
