Love to explore new destinations, understand new people: Shashi Shetty

Dubai: The 11th episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s talk show ‘Sunday Celebrity’ was aired on Sunday March 13 at 8.00 pm IST.

The guest for the evening was Shashi Shetty, Regional Director – Sales, Middle East, Africa Turkey Region, Ascot International Management, Dubai.

Floyd Kiran was the host for the event.

The programme was live-streamed on NewsKarnataka.com’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

Floyd Kiran introduced the guest and welcomed her.

Shashi Shetty going back to her childhood days recalled her experience going to school staying with grand parents. She said it to be a days of ‘learning lessons.’

Going to my parents in my 11th standard, I worked for part time in a company post college hours and also took tuition classes in order to aid my parents in Bombay.

When questioned on her habit of carrying a saree and a national flag on her every foreign tours she said, “Initially it was with the intention of sharing my tradition and culture abroad which later became a habit. Now it’s must for me to carry a flag either it’s a solo trip or a group one.”

Being one among few women who first drove on the roads of Saudi Arabia she expressed her joy on doing the same.

From my school days I was into sports and in college for five years I was an athlete. And now, throwball has turned out to be a weekend stress buster, she said for the same she has earned the title ‘throwball star’.

Inspite of women being successful in all arenas from balancing her career, society and family, women still face certain fundamental problems like that of Gender inequality, she complained. She advised women to ‘ think like a queen and be fearless’.

In ‘Celebrity Favourites’ session she said, Circuit, Shisha, Babu, and Bangaru are the few names she is being called in.

Exploring new destination, understanding new people and learning their culture is my favourite work apart from sports, she said emphasising on her hobbies.

Speaking about turning points in life she says, I call my marriage a turning point. My husband is my back bone and the support my husband gives me is immense. When being sad I find a lonely space and burst out into tears and talk to myself, she said.

As a message in concluding note she putforth mind triggering questions to the men in the society seeking; Have you fulfilled your wife’s childhood dream? When is the time you expressed gratitude to your wife for the yummy food she prepared and asked her to rest for a while extending your hand in aid? When is the last time you praised your sister, mother or wife in front of the others? Have you fulfilled your daughter’s dream of higher studies? In the past one year when is the last time you called your sister to ask her about her well-being? In office, do you shortlist enough women candidates for higher position?

Kiran Nirkan expressed words of gratitude and concluded the session.
