Assault Case: Family of 3 Accused of Beating Thane Power Employees

Thane:In Kalyan town on Wednesday, a couple and their daughter reportedly assaulted two women contractual employees of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL)  The incident occurred after the employees disconnected the family’s power supply due to outstanding electricity bills.

Following the disconnection, as the MSEDCL employees were leaving the accused’s residence, they were allegedly attacked. The victims also reported that, when one of them attempted to record the incident on her mobile phone, the accused forcibly took the device and subjected her to molestation.

A case has been registered against the three accused under relevant provisions based on the police complaint filed by the victims. The incident highlights the challenges faced by u tility workers in carrying out their duties, especially when dealing with non-payment of bills.
